The Death of Balder. Choose from four sizes.
Gallery quality canvas print mounted on a frame (1.25" deep). Shipped in a larger, well-protected box.
This image captures the story of when the beloved god Baldur (Old Norse: Baldr, son of Odin and brother of Thor) was killed by a spear made of mistletoe. The spear was thrown by the blind god Hodr. However, Loki himself made the spear and convinced Hodr to throw it. Loki is seen on the left laughing while Odin and Thor are seen in the center, sitting in front of the Yggdrasil tree.
The original was painted in 1817 by Christoffer Wilhelm Eckersberg and the original is now part of a collection at the Charlottenborg Palace in Copenhagen, Denmark.
